INJURY FOLLOW UP
To provide fast and efficient care for your injured workers, an Occupational Health physician is available at our clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 559 Scenic Drive, Ashland. 24-hour initial injury evaluation and treatment are available at the ACH emergency room.
A fee-for-service system is used for billing, which means employers are billed only for services used. Fees are comparable to private physician fees in the area.
No membership costs or contracts are required.
Pre-registration is required for optimal service before an injury occurs. This helps us facilitate the delivery of information to you about your injured employee.
Case management services, coordinated care, and worker’s compensation assistance for all employee injuries are provided.
This case management system automatically informs you of any occupational injury treated in our clinic or emergency department, including information regarding:
- Type of injury
- Treatment received
- Return-to-work and light duty parameters
- Follow–up medical treatment and referral
- Physical therapy progress
Obtaining treatment through Occupational Health is beneficial for both employees and employers:

Currently available are dT, rabies, Hepatitis B, & Hepatitis A. Depending upon the availability of vaccine, influenza vaccine programs, including on-site flu clinic administration, are also available. Other more specialized vaccine needs are also available after consultation with one of our occupational health providers.
TUBERCULIN SKIN TESTING
Tuberculin skin testing and follow-up monitoring are available. Case management, evaluation of results and administration of chemo-prophylactic medications are available for positive test results.
PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS
We offer two levels of examinations for prospective employees you intend to hire, pending medical assessments of their ability to safely perform their jobs. Pre-placement examinations determine whether the “essential functions” of a position will compromise the safety and well being of the prospective employee, co-workers, or the public. Exams also determine:
- Medical/physical conditions that pose substantial physical risks
- Baseline measurements for future comparison
- Medical/physical parameters for proposed “reasonable accommodations”
For employers affected by the Americans with Disabilities Act, our staff is happy to review your job descriptions and make compliance recommendations where necessary.
Level 1 Exams
Recommended for all work environments, particularly those with heavy workloads or with noise exposures requiring baseline and annual audiometry measurements. Includes evaluation for HAZMAT positions, as well.
- Comprehensive medical history
- Visual acuity test
- Routine urinalysis
- Blood pressure and pulse
- Treadmill test available
- Medical examination by an occupational health physician
- Baseline hearing test
- Respiratory function testing
Level 2 Exams
Similar to level 1 exam, but does not include hearing and respiratory function analysis. Recommended for light industrial and office environments.
PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTING
Pulmonary function testing is available as part of our level 1 exams or on an individual basis as a part of evaluation for respirator use.
AUDIOMETRIC EXAMINATIONS
Baseline and follow up audiometry testing is available by our trained specialist using a Tracor microprocessor controlled system maintained according to OSHA and OSEA standards. Examinations are conducted by trained state certified and licensed audiometry technicians. Baseline examinations can be performed in conjunction with physical exams, or separately at the work site. Baselines are entered into the employee’s medical record. We will also perform retests on employees whenever annual hearing tests show change and the need for re-examination.
DOT COMMERCIAL DRIVER EXAMINATIONS
Drivers are required by DOT and the Public Utility Commission to have a comprehensive physical examination before initial licensing, and at least every two years thereafter. Examinations include a level 1 or level 2 exam, emphasizing physical requirements established by the Federal Highway Safety Administration.
EMPLOYMENT ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS
For new employees, we offer an extensive job-related examination to determine medical and physical capacities. This service is helpful for organizations governed by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Complete job/position analysis with documentation of essential job functions
- Job site analysis leading to clinical job site simulation
- Level 1 pre-placement physical exam
- Work & aerobic capabilities determination measured against job performance requirements
- “Reasonable accommodation” analysis and recommendations
- These services are offered in cooperation with Catalina Physical Therapy.
DRUG TESTING AND CERTIFIED MEDICAL OFFICER REVIEW
Many employers are discovering that having an established drug screeing program makes good sense. The realities of drug and substance abuse in the workplace affect more than just employee health. Despite the well known fact that safety and job performance decline substantially as a result of drug abuse, employers often find it difficult to implement programs designed to address the problem.
Our staff is prepared to advise on policy development or modifications, and we can perform all DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing. We act as a collection site and offer certified medical review officer services for full compliance with DOT and FHWA regulations. Collections are available during off hours through the Ashland Community Hospital lab, together with Breath Alcohol testing. As a participant in the Drug Free Transportation Alliance, we also provide random drug testing for trucking companies in accordance with DOT guidelines. Please call to find out how we can help you set up a drug testing system for your employees that will help encourage a drug-free work environment.
FOOD HANDLER’S EXAMS
We act as a testing site for food handler's exams. Exams are available Monday through Friday and do not require an appointment.
WELLNESS PROGRAMS AND EXECUTIVE EXAMS
Corporate health is often directly related to the good health of your key managers and executives. The executive exam is a comprehensive look at an executive's wellness profile and includes:
- Computerized Analyzed Health Path Profile (with physician counseling regarding findings and lifestyle recommendations)
- HDL & LDL lipid profile testing with risk stratification
- Audiometry testing using a Tracor microprocessor-controlled system
- Visual acuity analysis using a Keystone Pilot Vision tester
- Routine urinalysis
- 12-lead Electrocardiogram with physical interpretation
- Respiratory function testing
- Treadmill testing
- Comprehensive professional medical examination
RESPIRATORY MEDICAL EVALUATION AND QUESTIONNAIRE REVIEW
In order to help you implement OSHA’s respiratory protection standard, our staff is available to advise you on setting up a respiratory program that meets all regulation standards. We are available for medical questionnaire review and can also help set up on-site testing and medical review.
EDUCATION
Meeting increasingly complex regulations for workplace and public safety in a timely and cost effective way is an ongoing challenge for today’s employers. We are available to help meet this challenge with advice about regulation compliance and cost effective programs.
Also available are training courses that help employers understand how to recognize and prevent common workplace injuries.
The Oregon Safe Employment Act requires 10% of a company’s workforce to be qualified in emergency first aid. We will train your employees in a seven module slide/tape training program that incorporates CPR and First Aid in one 8-hour course. Participants learn and retain accurate CPR skills and learn what to do in a medical emergency. The program is nationally approved by the US Department of Labor, Mine Safety, and Health Administration.
Other programs available:
- Basic ergonomics
- How to understand the new ergonomics standard
- AED programs
- Prevention of common musculoskeletal disorders
- Employee Assistance Programs involving recognition and treatment of drug and alcohol dependency, mental health issues, marital and family problems, inability to cope with injury or illness.
- Additional education programs can be tailored to fit your workplace requirements.
WORKPLACE BLOOD EXPOSURE CONTROL
To keep pace with the increase in blood-borne pathogens in the workplace, HIV and Hepatitis B and C in particular, we offer a comprehensive program that includes education, vaccinations and long-term exposure monitoring.
We will also help you develop an Exposure Control Plan to meet OSHA requirements. If occupational blood exposures are known to have occurred or are identified during medical treatment, Occupational Health will provide specimen collection, treatment and exposure monitoring.
