Wound Center & Hyperbaric Medicine

Premier wound center offers advanced care

At any given time, nearly six million Americans suffer from problem wounds. Some are associated with complications from diabetes and vascular disorders, while others are related to pressure sores or traumatic injury.

At the ACH Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine, we use the most up-to-date approaches and scientific advances in wound care therapy. Several factors set us apart. We are the only wound care center in the Rogue Valley that offers Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, and the only center that sees all urgent patients within 24 hours of a physician’s phone call. We are M.D. directed (see Meet our Medical Staff), and we are affiliated with a respected national wound care organization, Diversified Clinical Services. This ensures our panel physicians are well trained and our healing rates compare favorably to national outcomes.

At ACH, diagnosing a wound starts with a thorough examination to identify the wound type and any underlying conditions. Then we develop a customized healing plan, which may include:

·        Infectious disease management

·        Nutritional management

·        Physical therapy

·        Pain management

·        Vascular evaluation

·        Laboratory evaluation

·        Diabetes education

·        Surgical debridement

·        Radiology

·        Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)

Once a treatment plan has been initiated, the patient will visit the Center on a regular basis for ongoing care and will learn how to take care of the wound at home between visits.

Ashland Community Hospital is proud to offer the most comprehensive wound care center in the Rogue Valley. For more information, please call us at 541-201-4420.

Treating wounds with HBOT

Approximately 15 percent of wound care patients require Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to help stop infections, repair wounds or preserve skin grafts. HBOT involves enclosing the patient in a pressurized chamber where he or she breathes 100 percent oxygen. Oxygen saturates the patient’s blood plasma, carrying 15 to 20 times the normal amount of oxygen to the body’s tissues. As a result, the body’s natural wound healing mechanisms, which are oxygen dependent, are able to function more efficiently.

To contact the Wound Center or make a referral please call 541-201-4420, or fax your referral to 541- 488-7436.
